ULYSSES IN TRANSLATION by Dr SAM SLOTE Conference. As part of the Bloomsday Festival the Joyce Centre, in partnership with the Alliance Française, is organising a talk by Dr Sam Slote of Trinity College. He will be speaking on 'Ulysses in Translation'. Joyce's novel, Ulysses, is one of the most widely translated English language novels in the world and Joyce's famously poetic and experimental language has provided translators with great challenges.
Sam Slote will focus his talk on the first French translation of the work, which was published in 1929 and so celebrates its 80th anniversary this year.
This talk will be mainly through English with questions and answers in French and English.
