Alert! Last month of the Short Story-Poem Competition

The Short Story-Poem Competition is now in its last month.
Don’t forget to take part in this challenge and write a short story or poem on the theme of “The City”.

Find the rules below
- You can write in either French or English.
- Your story or poem must be between 500 and 1000 words.
- Send your completed story or poem by email to Business@alliance-francaise.ie or post in on the blog of the Alliance Francaise of Dublin.

-The closing date for entries is 31st March 2010.
-All stories will be displayed during the Franco-Irish Literary Festival.

  3. I agree....500 words is very long for a poem. And yes ,one could write an ode, but it would be good to have the freedom, nay even the poetic licence, to express one's thoughts in the form of one's choosing. I had my (brief but pithy) stanzas written before noticing the word stipulation. Que faire? Any chance of an amendment to the rules for us poets?

    Sorry for my late reply. Thank you for your message. 500 words are exclusively for the stories.
    I understand perfectly that 500 words is very long for a poem.
    So if you are still motivated to take part in this writing competition, i would love to receive your poems.
